Winter certainly has been throwing around big storms with below-normal temperatures.
The past 2 weeks I’ve been busy working with clients who have come to me with stiff backs, hips, knees, ankles and feet.
It’s tough to get motivated to exercise and move when your lower back and lower body feels like the Tin Man.
I mean, who wants to move when you feel like there is rust in all of your joints?
The problem is we focus on how we feel right now instead of how we could feel if we moved…just a little bit.
What about a simple warm up ?
A bath ?
A hot pack ?
Hot tea ?
Heat yourself up anyway that sounds wonderful.
Then, do a small stretch that your body needs and relax into it.
Sometimes we make things so hard.
We think in order to loosen up and move, we have to do this grand expression of movement.
When in fact, how we get motivated is we do small things.
One at a time.
The first step is to ask “how can I make it easy to warm myself up ?”
Second step ?
Ask yourself “how does my body need to move in order to feel looser?”
Simple questions leads to simple actions.
