Neck and Jaw Pain
are totally related and usually caused by Bruxism (teeth clenching and/or grinding)
If you feel that you are under stress and know for a fact that you are clenching your teeth at night, your first stop should be your dentist.
Inform your dentist about your stress and jaw pain during your next visit.
Ask for a thorough oral exam and have them check for cracked teeth, wear patterns on all your teeth, and lastly have them palpate your jaw.
If your dentist looks at you funny, then ask for a referral to an orthodontist who can exam you and fit you for an appliance to wear at night.
Bruxism is extremely damaging to your teeth and jaw.
Hello jaw and neck pain.
You want to keep those pearly whites from getting cracked, right ?
The Benjamin’s add up pretty quick with a cracked tooth and possible extraction.
I don’t mean to scare you, but it will happen if you don’t take action and do something about it.
I should know because I also suffer from Bruxism and wear an appliance at night.
1. Your dental office (or a referral to an orthodontist) will offer you a fitted appliance such as a NTI.
2. Manage your stress the best you can. Exercise. Do yoga. Try meditation. Massage helps too.
3. Be mindful of your sugar intake. Sugar wrecks joints and your jaw is a delicate joint.
4. Be careful of alcohol. It can increase your night-time Bruxism.
That’s the skinny this evening.
