Love ’em or hate ’em, they are a part of our culture.
We are always trying out the “new & shiny” thing that everyone else is doing.
When it comes to staying motivated to move—staying fit—exercising—-whatever word you want to put in there following a trend is the WORST thing you can do to stay motivated.
Because when you get tired of doing the shiny-new thing everyone else is doing…. you stop moving all together and get into a frumpy slump and your motivation comes to a complete halt.
You start gaining weight.
You get in a funky-funk.
And you start hating yourself.
You tell yourself, “good grief, I know I need to get off the damn couch but I don’t FEEL like it”
You don’t feel like working out because you haven’t found (YET) the movement your body responds to every day AND also coming from a place of why you exercise in the first place.
Let me tell you a little secret….
If you are trying to stay fit because you want to lose weight or stay healthy and because you know you are SUPPOSED to be doing it (cue it becoming a effing chore that you despise)…you will never sustain a fitness program you absolutely love.
You feel me ?
Do me a favor and ask your body what it needs to feel amazeballs.
Sit with it.
If you need to take a freaking bath.
If you need a second to just take a deep breath….
If you need to do some small stretches.
If you need to find a class where you know you are gonna sweat your ass off.
Go to it.
Just know, your feelings around fitness change EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
You are never going to feel the same every day.
So, get in the habit of really becoming aware of what your body needs.
Then for the love of Pete….LISTEN and act on it.
I am on a mission to change the behavior that mass marketers are selling.
It is NOT about the sweat. The pushing. The intensity.
We get enough adrenaline every day with the Stress of Life.
That being said, I also know that I love to sweat sometimes, just not every single day.
What are your current beliefs around exercise ?
Around staying fit ?
I would love to hear your thoughts below
